Water Filtration Systems in Southern Indiana
Cleaner Water, Longer-Lasting Plumbing.
Louisville-area water measures around 7.2 grains per gallon in hardness. That mineral content builds scale inside your pipes, water heater, and appliances over time. A whole-house water filtration or softening system protects your plumbing and gives you better water at every tap. We install and service water filtration systems for homes and businesses throughout Southern Indiana and the Louisville metro.
What Hard Water Does to Your Home
Hard water leaves mineral deposits everywhere it flows. Scale builds inside your water heater tank, coating the heating element and reducing efficiency. It collects inside tankless water heater heat exchangers, requiring more frequent descaling. It narrows your pipes, stains fixtures, and leaves film on glass and tile.
Beyond plumbing, hard water affects daily life. Soap doesn’t lather well, laundry feels stiff, skin feels dry, and dishes come out spotted. A filtration or softening system addresses all of these issues at the source.
We evaluate your water quality, discuss your goals, and recommend the right system for your home. Whether you need a simple sediment filter, a water softener, or a multi-stage whole-house system, we size and install it properly.
Signs You Need Water Treatment
White Scale Buildup on Fixtures
Crusty white deposits on faucets, showerheads, and around drains are calcium and magnesium from hard water. A water softener removes these minerals before they reach your fixtures.
Urgency: Schedule when ready. Scale buildup accelerates over time.
Water Heater Losing Efficiency
Scale buildup inside your water heater forces the unit to work harder and shortens its life. If your water heater is underperforming, hard water may be the hidden cause.
Urgency: Consider treatment to protect a new or existing water heater.
Chlorine Taste or Smell
Municipal water is treated with chlorine, which is safe but affects taste and smell. A carbon filter removes chlorine and improves the taste of your tap water throughout the house.
Urgency: Install when taste quality is a priority.
Dry Skin and Dull Hair
Hard water strips natural oils from skin and hair. If you notice dryness, irritation, or dull hair despite changing products, your water may be the cause.
Urgency: Quality of life improvement. Schedule at your convenience.
Recurring Plumbing Issues
If you keep dealing with clogged aerators, failing water heater elements, or scale in your pipes, treating the water prevents the problem from recurring after each repair.
Urgency: Treat the water to protect your plumbing investment.
Well Water Quality Concerns
Homes on well water may have elevated iron, sulfur, sediment, or bacteria. We test your water and recommend a system that addresses the specific contaminants present.
Urgency: Test annually. Water quality changes with season and ground conditions.

Filtration Systems We Install
- Whole-House Water Softeners
Ion-exchange softeners remove calcium and magnesium, eliminating scale buildup throughout your entire plumbing system. We size the softener to your household size and water hardness level.
- Whole-House Carbon Filters
Carbon filtration removes chlorine, chloramines, sediment, and organic compounds. Improves taste, smell, and overall water quality at every tap and appliance.
- Sediment and Iron Filters
For well water and municipal water with visible particles. Removes sand, rust, and iron that stain fixtures and clog aerators.
- Multi-Stage Filtration Systems
Combines sediment removal, carbon filtration, and softening into one system. The right choice for homes with multiple water quality issues or well water with complex chemistry.
Benefits of Whole-House Water Treatment
- Extends Plumbing and Appliance Life
Soft water means less scale in your water heater, dishwasher, washing machine, and pipes. Equipment lasts longer and runs more efficiently.
- Better Water at Every Tap
A whole-house system treats water before it enters your plumbing, so every faucet, shower, and appliance gets filtered water. No separate pitcher filters or fridge cartridges needed.
- Protects New Pipe and Water Heater Installations
If you just had your home repiped or installed a new water heater, a filtration system protects that investment from the day it’s installed.
- Lower Cleaning Effort
Soft water reduces soap scum, water spots, and mineral staining on glass, tile, and fixtures. Less scrubbing, fewer cleaning products.
- Better for Skin and Hair
Soft, filtered water is gentler on skin and hair. Many homeowners notice the difference within the first week of installing a softener.
What Installation Includes
We start by evaluating your water quality and understanding your goals. We discuss system options, sizing, and placement. Most whole-house systems are installed on the main water line where it enters the home, before the water heater.
Installation includes mounting the system, connecting it to the main supply, setting up the drain line for backwash (softeners), programming the control valve, and testing the output water quality. We show you how the system works and what maintenance it needs.
Most installations take half a day. We handle all the plumbing connections and leave your utility area clean when we’re done.

Water Filtration Questions
Straight answers, no filler.
Still have a question?
Call us directly — we’ll give you a straight answer, never a sales pitch.
How much does a whole-house water system cost?
Cost depends on the system type and size. A basic softener costs less than a multi-stage system. We provide upfront pricing after evaluating your water and household needs.
How often does the system need maintenance?
Softeners need salt refills every 4 to 8 weeks. Carbon filters need media replacement every 3 to 5 years. We explain the schedule for your specific system at installation.
Will a softener make my water taste salty?
No. Modern softeners exchange hard minerals for a small amount of sodium that’s well below the taste threshold. Most people notice improved taste, not salt.
Do I need a softener if I have city water?
Louisville-area city water is moderately hard at 7.2 grains per gallon. A softener will reduce scale buildup and improve the water feel. Whether you need one depends on your tolerance for hard water effects.
Can you install a system in my existing home?
Yes. We install whole-house systems in existing homes, new construction, and commercial buildings. Most installs require minimal modification to your existing plumbing.
