Gas Line Installation and Repair in Southern Indiana
Licensed. Careful. Done to Code.
Why Gas Line Work Needs a Licensed Professional
Gas line installation and repair require a licensed plumber who understands the code requirements, pipe sizing, pressure testing, and safety protocols. A gas leak, even a small one, creates a risk of fire, explosion, or carbon monoxide poisoning.
We hold an active Indiana Master Plumber license (PC10802641) and have been running gas lines for three decades. We handle everything from running a new line for a gas range to installing complete gas systems for new construction. Every connection is pressure tested before we leave.
Gas work in Indiana requires permits and inspection. We pull the permits, schedule the inspections, and make sure everything passes the first time.
Signs You Need Gas Line Service
Rotten Egg Smell in or Around Your Home
Natural gas is odorless. The rotten-egg smell is mercaptan, added so you can detect leaks. If you smell it, leave the house immediately, avoid using electronics or light switches, and call your gas utility. Then call us to locate and repair the leak.
Urgency: Leave the house now. Call your gas utility, then call us.
Hissing Sound Near Gas Appliances or Pipes
A hissing or whistling sound near a gas line, meter, or appliance connection usually means gas is escaping through a crack or loose fitting.
Urgency: Treat as a gas leak. Evacuate and call your gas utility.
Dead Plants Near the Gas Line Path
An underground gas leak can kill vegetation above the pipe. If a strip of your yard or garden suddenly dies along the gas line path, a leak may be the cause.
Urgency: Call soon. Even outdoor leaks need professional repair.
Appliance Won't Stay Lit
If your furnace, water heater, or stove pilot light keeps going out, the gas supply may be insufficient, or the line may have a partial restriction. We check the gas pressure and the line condition.
Urgency: Schedule an evaluation. Recurring pilot issues point to supply problems.
Adding a New Gas Appliance
Installing a gas range, outdoor grill, fireplace, generator, or gas water heater requires a properly sized gas line run from the meter to the appliance location. We size the line for the BTU load and route it safely.
Urgency: Plan before purchase. The gas line needs to be ready before the appliance arrives.
Remodeling or Building an Addition
Kitchen remodels, room additions, and new construction often require new gas line runs or relocations. We coordinate with your project timeline.
Urgency: Loop us in during the planning phase.

Gas Line Services We Provide
- Gas Leak Detection and Repair
We use specialized detection equipment to locate gas leaks at fittings, valves, and along pipe runs. We repair the leak, pressure test the repaired section, and confirm safe operation before turning the gas back on.
- New Gas Line Installation
Running new gas lines for ranges, dryers, water heaters, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, generators, and pool heaters. We size the line to the appliance’s BTU requirement and the total system load.
- Gas Line Relocation
Moving a gas line for a kitchen remodel, appliance relocation, or renovation. We cap the old line, run the new one, test everything, and make sure the work passes inspection.
- Gas Meter and Shut-Off Valve Service
Replacing corroded or seized gas shut-off valves, upgrading connections at the meter, and coordinating with the gas utility for meter relocations.
Benefits of Choosing a Licensed Gas Line Plumber
- Safety You Can Trust
Gas work done wrong is dangerous. We pressure test every connection, use approved materials, and follow code requirements for pipe sizing, support, and clearances. No shortcuts.
- Proper Pipe Sizing
An undersized gas line starves your appliance of fuel, causing poor performance and safety issues. We calculate the BTU load for every appliance on the system and size the line accordingly.
- Permits and Inspections Handled
Gas line work requires a permit and inspection in Indiana. We handle the paperwork and coordinate with the inspector. You don’t need to manage that process.
- One Contractor for Plumbing and Gas
Many plumbing projects involve both water and gas connections. When you hire us, one licensed team handles both, which saves scheduling time and coordination headaches.
- Insurance-Ready Documentation
Licensed, bonded, and insured work with proper permits protects you. If something ever needs a claim, you have documentation that the work was done by a licensed professional.
What a Gas Line Service Call Looks Like
For leak repair, we start by confirming the leak location with detection equipment. We shut off the gas supply to the affected section, make the repair, pressure test the line, and relight any affected appliances. We confirm safe operation and carbon monoxide readings before leaving.
For new installations, we survey the route from the meter to the appliance location, calculate pipe sizing, and provide upfront pricing. We run the line, make connections, pressure test, and schedule the inspection. Once the inspector signs off, we connect the appliance and verify operation.
Every gas line project ends with a thorough safety check. We test every connection, check for leaks with detection equipment, and make sure all appliances fire and vent properly.

Gas Line Questions
Straight answers, no filler.
Still have a question?
Call us directly — we’ll give you a straight answer, never a sales pitch.
How much does it cost to run a new gas line?
Cost depends on the distance from the meter, pipe size needed, and whether the route is through open space or finished walls. We provide upfront pricing after surveying the route.
Can you convert an electric appliance to gas?
Yes. We run the gas line to the appliance location. You’ll need a gas-compatible appliance and potentially electrical changes. We handle the gas side; an electrician handles the electric.
Is it safe to have a gas line run through my attic or crawl space?
Yes, when done to code with proper materials, support, and clearances. We follow all code requirements for gas line routing through different areas of the home.
What kind of pipe do you use for gas lines?
We use black iron pipe, CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing), or PE pipe for underground runs, depending on the application and code requirements. Each has specific use cases, and we choose the right one for the job.
