Sewer Line Repair and Camera Inspection in Southern Indiana
See What's Wrong Before We Dig.
A sewer line problem doesn’t always mean tearing up your yard. We start every sewer job with a camera inspection so you see exactly what’s happening inside the pipe. From spot repairs and trenchless lining to full excavation and replacement, we handle it all. Residential and commercial sewer service throughout Southern Indiana and the Louisville metro, including emergency response for active backups.
When Your Sewer Line Needs More Than a Cleaning
Not every sewer problem is a simple clog. Cracked pipes, root intrusion, bellied sections, and collapsed lines all cause recurring backups that no amount of snaking or jetting will fix permanently. When the problem is structural, the pipe itself needs repair or replacement.
We handle sewer line diagnosis and repair for residential and commercial customers across Clark County, Floyd County, Harrison County, and the greater Louisville metro. With an Indiana Master Plumber license and fully stocked trucks, we can move from inspection to repair the same day in many cases. Old clay laterals and aging cast-iron sewer lines are common in our service area. Parts of the metro sewer system date back to 1867, and many residential connections haven’t been updated since the home was built.
Signs of a Damaged Sewer Line
Recurring Sewer Backups
If your main line backs up multiple times a year despite cleaning, the pipe likely has structural damage. Roots, cracks, or a belly in the line trap debris and re-form clogs regardless of how often you clear them.
Urgency: Call for a camera inspection. Repeated backups point to pipe damage.
Sewage Smell in Your Yard
A persistent sewer smell outside usually means a crack or break in the line is allowing sewage to seep into the soil. The odor gets worse in warm weather as the waste decomposes.
Urgency: Schedule an inspection soon. This can become a health concern.
Soggy or Sunken Spots in the Yard
A broken sewer line leaks wastewater underground, saturating the soil. Over time, this creates soft, soggy patches or visible dips in your lawn directly above the pipe path.
Urgency: Call this week. Ground settling can worsen pipe damage.
Drains Stay Slow Even After Cleaning
If multiple drains remain sluggish after professional cleaning, a restriction in the main sewer line is the likely cause. A belly (low spot), offset joint, or partial collapse reduces flow even when the line is technically “clear.”
Urgency: Camera inspection recommended to see the pipe condition.
Gurgling Toilets When Other Fixtures Run
Air displacement caused by a restricted or partially blocked sewer line creates gurgling in toilets when you run the washing machine, dishwasher, or shower. This points to a main line issue that needs a camera look.
Urgency: Call soon. This can escalate to a full backup.
Unusually Green Grass Over the Pipe Path
Leaking sewage acts as fertilizer. If one strip of your lawn is noticeably greener and thicker than the rest, and it follows the path of your sewer line, the pipe may be cracked underground.
Urgency: Schedule an inspection to confirm.

Sewer Services We Provide
- Sewer Camera Inspection
Burst pipes, frozen pipes (common in our freeze-thaw winters with January lows around 27 degrees), and active leaks. We carry repair fittings, couplings, and pipe materials on our trucks for same-visit resolution.
- Sewer Spot Repair
Main line backups, clogged drains flooding your home, and sewer gas intrusion. We bring drain snakes, cameras, and jetting equipment to handle the worst drain emergencies.
- Trenchless Sewer Repair
A leaking water heater can flood your utility room overnight. A failed unit in winter leaves your household without hot water. We repair and replace water heaters with same-day service.
- Sewer Main Installation
New construction, major additions, or homes that need a completely new sewer connection. We handle the full scope: layout, dig, pipe installation, city connection, inspection, and backfill. For heavy dig work, we have excavation capability in-house.
Why Sewer Repairs Shouldn't Wait
- Damage Only Gets Worse Over Time
A small crack becomes a big crack. Roots that fit through a joint today will fill the pipe next year. Sediment catches on rough edges and builds. Every month you wait, the repair scope grows and so does the cost.
- Sewage Creates Health and Property Risks
A leaking or backed-up sewer line exposes your family and property to raw sewage. Indoor backups cause water damage, mold, and contamination. Outdoor leaks can contaminate soil and groundwater.
- Planned Repairs Cost Less Than Emergency Digs
A scheduled sewer repair with time to plan is always less expensive than an emergency excavation after a full collapse. Camera inspection catches problems early when options are still flexible.
- Protect Your Home's Resale Value
Sewer line condition is a common inspection item during home sales. A clean camera report showing a sound sewer line protects your investment. A failed sewer scope can stall or kill a sale.
- Modern Pipe Materials Last 50+ Years
Replacing old clay or cast-iron with modern PVC or HDPE means you likely won’t deal with this problem again. New materials resist root intrusion, corrosion, and the ground shifting that breaks rigid clay pipes.
What a Sewer Repair Call Looks Like
We start with a sewer camera inspection through an accessible clean-out. The camera feeds live video to a screen, and we walk you through what we see in real time. We identify the location, depth, and type of damage, then explain your repair options.
Depending on the findings, options may include spot repair, trenchless pipe lining or bursting, or traditional dig-and-replace with full excavation. We give you upfront pricing for each option, explain the pros and cons, and let you choose what makes sense for your situation and budget.
We carry camera equipment, repair materials, and standard fittings on our trucks. For straightforward repairs, we can often start the same day. Larger projects like full line replacement or sewer main installation are scheduled based on scope, permitting, and utility locates.

Sewer Line Questions
Straight answers, no filler.
Still have a question?
Call us directly — we’ll give you a straight answer, never a sales pitch.
How do I know if my sewer line is damaged?
Recurring backups, sewage smells in your yard, soggy patches, and slow drains after cleaning are all red flags. A sewer camera inspection is the only way to confirm what’s going on inside the pipe.
How much does sewer line repair cost?
Cost varies widely depending on the type and location of damage, depth, access, and repair method. We always provide upfront pricing after the camera inspection so you know exactly what you’re looking at.
What is trenchless sewer repair?
Trenchless repair fixes or replaces a sewer line without digging a full trench across your yard. Methods include pipe lining (cured-in-place) and pipe bursting (breaking the old pipe while pulling new pipe through). It preserves your landscaping and is often faster than traditional dig methods.
Do I need a permit for sewer work?
Most sewer repairs and installations require a permit. As a licensed Indiana Master Plumber, we pull the necessary permits and schedule inspections as part of the project. You don’t need to handle that yourself.
Can roots really break a sewer line?
Yes. Tree roots seek moisture and nutrients. They enter through joints and small cracks in clay, cast-iron, and Orangeburg pipes. Once inside, they expand and eventually crack or collapse the pipe. This is one of the most common sewer issues in our area.
